Lovely set of six very old Sarreguemines majolica fruit-design dessert plates.
Two pear, one plum, one apple, one grapes, one sherries. Available separately at £18 each. Highly collectible.
The pottery at Sarreguemines was established in 1784. It is well known for its variety of humorous character jugs, but also produced a variety of majolica tureens, vases and figural pieces. Sarreguemines majolica is marked with an impressed SARREGUEMINES, sometimes with MAJOLICA above - as seen on our collection.
