Deadline Magazine #1 (feat. Tank Girl) 1988

I used to work for Deadline magazine and thought I'd thrown out my collection during a move years ago. So imagine my delight when I found a pile in a dusty box in the attic! Particularly this ultra-rarity: Deadline magazine number 1.

This October 1988 issue - 35 years ago (how?!) - features the first ever appearance of Jamie Hewlett's Tank Girl comic strip. She also graces the cover. Tank Girl went on to star in her own movie, while Hewlett himself joined Damon Albarn in Gorillaz. (Incidentally, their meeting came about when Hewlett illustrated Blur for a later Deadline cover, and the pair hit it off.)

Having been read once and stored among a pile of Deadlines in a closed box, my copy is in excellent condition. The only noticeable degradation is the yellowing of the page edges (see photo - sorry, that dark diagonal line at the top is just a shadow; when I've time I'll retake).

Which probably prices this copy around four figures, making £800 a (relative) bargain. I appreciate, though this is in the Children's Toys & Games section, that little Jimmy isn't going to be buying this with his pocket money any time soon. Purely for serious collectors.
